    Sculptress

    Brazil

Artistically known as LUMA SANOS, she is a sculptress since 1994.

Born in Brazil in 1958, she got BFA  in Physics in Rio de Janeiro.

She had discovered her true passion for sculpture after joining Flory Menezes atelier in Rio.

She has been trying ever since to transpose into material all kinds of shapes, emotions and movement. Throughout the years she has been taking opportunities to expand her horizons thru the use of different materials and techniques.

Someone saw some of my work and said: “it made me smile” – that’s exactly the purpose of my artwork, bringing magic and fantasy to people’s life.

She currently lives in Alberta, Canada and work at my own atelier.

She is represented by the WARD-NASSE GALLERY, NYC since 2011.

Artist statement

I’m Fascinated with Circus, Acrobats and Ballerinas, I love to see them jump in the air, without fears or worries, as if they were invincible. To see them in action is a magical moment for me, it’s indescribable.
I’m very positive and colorful artist and I always think I’m going to be able to transform my imagination and a papier-mâché into a piece of art. I’m not always right, but never discouraged
I love what I do and what I desire with my art is to capture this magic of the whirling or jumping of a ballerina or the movement of an acrobat as it launchs into air.
As I improve my abilities as an artist I also try to challenge my imagination and creativity in order to capture a unique and spontaneous movement. My intention is to make you fell the jumping, hold your breath and most of all, smile.
